Visual Impact Provision Policy

The VIP policy document sets out how we intend to reduce the visual impact of existing electricity transmission lines in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) and National Parks.

We are committed to using the Visual Impact Provision in a collaborative and transparent way.

It details our approach to achieving our objectives, including the identification of a set of guiding principles, the creation of a Stakeholder Advisory Group consisting of stakeholders with national remits for England and Wales, and ways of engaging other stakeholders.

We updated the VIP policy in 2017 following a consultation with Stakeholder Advisory Group member organisations, Stakeholder Reference Group members in each of the prioritised areas and wider stakeholders and representatives of the eligible AONBs and National Parks. The consultation was also placed on the main VIP website.
